Current Happenings with the "Sons"...

An ongoing series of informational entries aka a blog

Hooray! You've made it...

September 2, 2018

We are in the studio. Still, the process continues, as the EPK is just about finished, and vocal tracking has begun for Daniel. The screams are coming out quite nicely, I might add. We are also finishing some bass, and guitar tracking for our EP also.

One setback last week though, and Roger's asking for prayer, as he might have a torn meniscus, we're awaiting MRI results still.

With that in mind, it's a good thing we are in the studio! God works in mysterious ways. (Isaiah55:09)

We have been booked for Chachofest, which is happening in Del Rio, Texas, but that is in February, and details are to be announced soon.

Also, for that song, you'll probably be seeing a promo for it too! We'll release it on all the usual social sites too, so be ready!

So, we're pretty stoked about the progress in the studio, and we also have some shows booked that'll be taking place on the road; that'll be later this year though. Details are still be worked out, but we are working on a tag along tour in December. Plus, things are being worked out with another Christian Music Showcase. Hooray!

Upcoming tour, and a lyric video released...

September 16, 2018

 Well y'all,

We have some upcoming news regarding a tag along tour that is coming, but we can't disclose just yet as much as we want to! It will involve three cities in the Republic of Texas: Austin, San Angelo, and Laredo, but that won't be until December. We're stoked, but like we said, we just can't say right now because the ink needs to dry, the i's need to be dotted, and you guessed it, the t's need to be crossed. Hooray tour!

We also have another Christian Music Showcase coming up in December in our hometown, of San Antonio, Texas and the first annual ChachoFest coming in February of next year in Del Rio, Texas.

Daniel is still tracking vocals, and we are in mixdown mode in the studio also. Hopefully, and more importantly, God-willing, we will push for our CD/digital download to be out by the time we go on our West Texas Tag-along Tour, so be on the lookout!

We are also releasing the official lyric video for, "Slaves" which is listed below. Let us know what y'all think; we'd appreciate it! Y'all be blessed!

Post-Production Mode

October 29, 2018

Hello all!

Yes, it has been awhile since I have last contributed, but there is even more awesome news as God keeps on using this band for more and more good!

We have recently, at the beginning of October to be exact, joined forces with Rob Montes, of RPM Live Entertainment, and are on his roster for festival season! God-willing we'll be able to hit some awesome festivals near you. We can't wait to put this ministry on the road.

On another hand, radio submissions of our song, "Slaves" have been sent out. We have have hopes of getting our music on TheBlast.FM , as the music director , Colin, replied to our email about submitting an mp3, or wav file. Also, our awesome brother-in-Christ, Peter Smith of 97X.FM , the Underground has been playing, "Slaves" in rotation lately! So awesome, and such a cool bro!

And what would be the most awesome news, before we go on our mini tour, you ask? Our EP, "Flesh To Death!" is in post-production this week, and as soon as it is finished, it'll be off to be replicated, and submitted for digital download!

Stay Tuned for the latest, because more goodness awaits God-willing!

Looking forward to seeing y'all soon in San Angelo, Laredo, and Austin on tour!

God Bless!,

The EP is almost here!

November 7, 2018

Hey Peeps!

I hope and pray everyone is doing quite awesomely!

Well, I'm pretty excited so here's the latest.

Our debut EP is now available for digital download, HOORAY! But wait, that's not all! We also have the actual CD that is in production as I type this here blog.

Practice has been going well, and we are preparing for our mini tour with Lifeless To Life. We will be hitting the road with them for three shows they will have in: Austin, San Angelo, and Laredo.

Prior to that, we have been invited to play the Texas Music Showcase, which will be in San Antonio, Texas, our hometown, and will feature music of all genres. I'm sure who is going to be there, but they call it a showcase for some reason, right? This will be the fourth year it has been running; so, if you are in San Antonio, or the surrounding area, please come check us out and make a lot of noise!

Then, when we get back from our mini road tour, we will be doing another Showcase, the Christian Music Showcase, Winter Edition. The Christian Winter Music Showcase will feature the Roland Gloria Band, Waxpanel, and us, aka yours truly, Becoming Sons. This will be in San Antonio as well, so come on out, hang with us, and maybe we'll sing some Christmas carols with you!

We are working on getting some new merch out also, so make sure you visit our merch page! All proceeds go towards a great tour, and spreading the gospel to all!

Hopefully, we'll see y'all out on the road, or somewhere, because w'ed love to meet you!

Until next update, Have a blessed rest of the week!

 God Bless!,

Remember 12-4-18!

November 9, 2018

Hello all our brothers and sisters in Christ!

Also hello to those want to know, and who don't know, but they want to know Christ!

Ok, now onto the real meat of the story!

Words cannot describe how awesome of a feeling it is to actually have our music published finally! It's been a long four months, but here it is finally finished! Seven songs (the number of completion!), and they are on our music page on this website, as well as any kind of music service you can think of! We hope you enjoy all of these songs as much as we do, and we hope to see you out on the road, because things are starting to fall into place with Becoming Sons. God is definitely on the move!

Until next update, Have a blessed rest of the week!

 God Bless!,

Ready To Hit The Road!

December 1, 2018

Greetings to  all our brothers and sisters in Christ!

The EP is almost here! Tuesday is the physical CD release drop, but it's available for digital download now.

We are very proud of this EP as we have put everything into it (1 Corinthians 10:31). It's getting great reviews already, and has recently been added to! Request Becoming Sons, haha!

November 17th, we had the honor of opening up for Manic Drive, Kutless, and a band that was an inspiration for even starting our music ministry, Disciple! It was unexpected, because we hadn't had anything booked for November when we received a request to open at the Zion Music Festival in Fredericksburg, TX. We made a lot of new fans that evening, it was awesome. God-willing, we'll be able to do this again next year.

The weekend after that, we opened up The 4th Annual Texas Music Showcase, back in our hometown, San Antonio. We'll be back December 15th at that same venue, Fitzgerald's for the Christian Winter Music Showcase.

This week, we'll be on the road with Lifeless 2 Life supporting their Waking Up Tour for three shows : Austin, at the Dirty Dog, The Deadhorse in San Angelo, and the Cold Brew in Laredo. We can't wait for another ministry opportunity! God is definitely on the move!

Tonight, catch us on the radio on 97X.FM on the Underground at 9PM!

God Bless y'all!

Refined By The Flames

September 15, 2019

I know it's been a while since our last post, but a lot has changed since then.

First, and foremost, I'd like to welcome our new additions to Becoming Sons. Roger Garza , on lead vocals, Marvin Perez on guitar, and last but certainly not least, Chris Rodriguez on lead guitar. You can find detailed information on them in the Biography section of our website.

Secondly, since our last post: we released "Flesh To Death!', which is available everywhere, toured with Lifeless To Life from Amarillo, who are an awesome band, awesome tour buddies, and just fun to hang with.

We also met people with interesting stories along the way, one of whom was a lady who worked at a hotel we stayed at in San Angelo, serving, and cleaning the breakfast area. She asked us if were in a band, and when we replied 'Christian band', she immediately opened up about how happy she was that she was about to leave her job at the hotel, travel, and finally get to see her daughter again, and that she was a born again Christian, and she needed prayer. You see she lost custody of her child due to an addiction problem, was homeless, but through the grace of God, overcame her addiction, was sober, reborn, and the state granted her the right to see her daughter again. She wanted custody, so we prayed for her. God was definitely working.

In January, we witnessed Mike Snyder, formerly of the band, Troubled Smile, a band we opened for, get baptized!

Me personally, I LOVE when someone gets baptized, because you're being born again like Jesus was when He started His ministry. Mike messaged me and said he was influenced when he saw us at Tonic bar, and how we were unashamed to talk to the crowd about Jesus. He bought a shirt from our merch table, went back to Arkansas, told his wife, and they've both given their lives to Christ ever since. He sent us a video of him being baptized in a Becoming Sons' t-shirt! Now that almost brought me to man tears to see God on the move like that! That's worth everything!

We also played many shows in our hometown, opening for touring bands, Orenda, Polterguts, and Lo and Behold.

We witnessed a horrible injury with Eldon, from Lo and Behold. His knee gave out from under him, but he finished the show like a trooper. That's hardcore. When we said goodbye, he had an ice pack on his swollen knee. He was all smiles though. We also witnessed the end of Jack's Bar also. A great venue for live shows.

We kicked out our former guitarist, Alex Garza.

I don't really wanna go public with everything that happened, although he did try to smear our name through the mud immediately; blasting messages, to everyone that he was no longer in Becoming Sons, and wrote every song all by himself. And if anyone saw us playing "his" songs, to report us for "criminal intent". On the contrary, everything was co-written, and copyrighted under the name, "Becoming Sons".  (see the music page for copyright documentation)

He was a person we had the intention of getting saved. We figured he would eventually get there after witnessing God's grace working through our band, time after time. There were many factors that led to him being asked to leave. It was a struggle. The band almost broke up a couple of times previous of this, due to his argumentative, and 'playing the victim' ways. We forgave him already, but it ended badly, and the worst part is, that he is my (Roger  the drummer) cousin.

We also had Daniel Bas, step away from Becoming Sons to pursue another creative interest. Daniel still keeps in touch with us, and is still to this day supportive of the band, whether it's helping out a new guitarist, coming to our shows, or just jamming with us from time to time.

Well, now you're all caught up with the happenings with the 'Sons.

Since, recruiting new band members, we've already had our return show, and played a couple of benefits and pop-up shows since. We will always be a band that puts God first and foremost at everything we do, and do it unashamedly.  With everything this band has been through,  I am happy to say, we came out of it stronger. It truly does feel like we have been "refined by fire".

In November, we should be in the studio recording a new EP.  We can't wait! We'll be working with Damien Refuge at Stone Creek Sound, formerly of Refugee, and Man of Sorrows.

God Bless y'all!

-Rog! (the drummer)
